Former Staffer Claims Trump Kissed Her Without Consent

A former member of Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign staff claims then-candidate Trump kissed her without her consent in a lawsuit filed Monday, the Washington Post reports.

In a statement, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders dismissed Johnson's allegation as "absurd on its face". "This never happened and is directly contradicted by multiple highly credible eyewitness accounts".

The woman filed the lawsuit in Florida on Monday, seeking damages for emotional pain and suffering. The lawsuit also alleges that Johnson was discriminated against as a campaign staffer because she was paid less than her male colleagues.

Johnson's attorney argues that the president has a long history of sexual harassment, pointing to the "Access Hollywood" tape, in which the president was recorded saying his fame allowed him to inappropriately grab women. "Ms. Giorno, walking behind Ms. Bondi, grabbed Ms. Johnson's elbow and gave it an approving tug".

But prior to being hired, Johnson says she first met Trump in November 2015 at a Birmingham, Alabama, rally.

Johnson also told the paper that she told her boyfriend, mother and stepfather about the kiss following the incident, as well as a lawyer and therapist. "I'm a prosecutor, and if I saw something inappropriate, I would have said something". "I can still see his lips coming straight for my face", she told the Washington Post. Two months later, Johnson said, she sought advice from a Florida attorney about the unwanted kiss. According to the lawsuit, Trump visited one of these RVs in Tampa before a rally there when the unwanted kiss took place. The Post confirmed her claims with those people, as well as reviewed documents and messages related to her allegation.

Johnson stressed to the Post that she did try to obtain a job within the Trump administration, and although she was overlooked, those rejections weren't fueling her desire to air her experience or sue.

At least 21 other women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct between the early 1980s and mid-2000s. She calls it "super-creepy and inappropriate".

Johnson said she began to consider coming forward in October 2016, after video surfaced of Trump bragging about kissing and groping women without their consent.

But after Trump's election, Zavareei said Johnson has been overcome with a "sense of guilt and responsibility" for any role she may have played in helping Trump win the election.

At the time, Trump said: "Anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who I am".
