Bautista Agut stuns Djokovic, set to meet Berdych in final

Novak Djokovic's unbeaten run at the Qatar Open is over after the world number one was beaten 3-6 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 by Roberto Bautista Agut in Friday's semi-final.

Bautista-Agut is in some of the best form of his life, demonstrated by his stunning three set victory over Novak Djokovic last week in Doha.

Nadal said that he would not play in Brisbane because of a left thigh strain, prompting yet more fears over the 32-year-old's long term future in Tennis.

Djokovic's first-set problems from earlier in the week were quickly forgotten as he raced into a 3-0 lead, the top seed breaking at the first attempt as a Bautista Agut backhand drifted wide. The irrepressible Djokovic is set to play his sixth match of the week later on Thursday when he continues his doubles partnership with his brother Marko. I know it's hard to play at this level.

That game he eventually lost, but asked if he was playing too much, Djokovic simply said: "I'm fine, I'll be fine". "That's it", a clearly frustrated Djokovic said in his post-match press conference.

It took the 33 year-old an hour and 30 minutes to overcome the Italian in straight sets.

"I think I did a very complete match".

However, Djokovic's fortunes changed in the second set when he broke the Georgian in the fifth game and slowly took control of the match. Novak was up and it was really tough.

Including the meeting with Bautista Agut, Djokovic spent nearly 10 hours on court in three days and played 11 sets in singles' matches. I had to play a lot of lines and serve very well.

On serve there was little the Spaniard could do to unsettle his opponent, Bautista Agut only managing to take six points off Djokovic as the Serbian sealed the set easily.

Defeat saw Djokovic's 13-game winning run in Qatar come to an end, leaving the player frustrated and smashing his a racket in the second set.
