White House blasts Omarosa for recording talks

President Trump blasted "Wacky" Omarosa Manigault-Newman on Monday after she leaked a secretly taped phone call with him amid promotion of her new book, calling her "vicious, but not smart" and saying White House Chief of Staff John Kelly considered her a "loser".

On NBC, Tapper reminded Manigault Newman that in December 2016 she had written: "I am living the American Dream because of Donald Trump.it's very hard to make the argument that Donald Trump doesn't like black people and black women".

Manigault Newman also wrote in the book she was offered $15,000 a month contract to sign a nondisclosure agreement after she was sacked from the White House a year ago, which she said she turned down.

"I've never heard of a more serious breach of protocol", said Ned Price, who served as spokesman of the National Security Council in the Obama administration.

Ms Manigault Newman went on to say in an NBC interview that the taped call shows Mr Trump "doesn't even know what's happening in his White House".

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the latest recording.

CNN host John Berman said during his interview of Short that Trump had repeatedly promised to only hire "the best people" in his White House.

When asked if she broke the law, Giuliani said: "She's certainly violating national security regulations, which I think have the force of law".

The recording Manigault-Newman released on Sunday revealed Kelly fired her over "significant integrity issues". Trump tweeted a scathing criticism of his former top-level aide just as her book-promoting media tour was gaining steam, all but guaranteeing the kind of made-for-cable feud that made them both reality TV stars and ultimately brought them to the White House.

In it, she paints a damming picture of President Donald Trump, including claiming that tapes exist of him using the N-word as he filmed his "The Apprentice" reality series.

Trump ridiculed the mainstream media for taking her seriously. He goes on to say that things can get ugly for you. She describes the tape in her book but has said she does not have it herself.

"It had finally sunk in that the person I'd thought I'd known so well for so long was actually a racist", she wrote, according to The Guardian. In a phone call with the president after she was sacked by Chief of Staff John Kelly, Trump expressed regret that she'd gotten the boot and claimed he was completely unaware.

In this photo, taken February 14, 2017, Omarosa Manigault-Newman, then an aide to President Donald Trump, watches during a meeting with parents and teachers in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington.

Conway said "that is not what was offered" to Manigault Newman.

While appearing on "Meet the Press" Sunday, Omarosa admitted, "I was complicit with this White House deceiving this nation".

"Because Donald Trump talks about everyone behind their backs".
