Real Madrid star sends heartfelt message to Cristiano Ronaldo

Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) workers are planning a strike following the vehicle manufacturer's decision to purchase Ronaldo for €100-million (R1 565 579 354.05).

Following the recent arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, Juan Cuadrado has magnanimously agreed to vacate his shirt number at Juventus to allow the new €100 million man to wear his trademark No.7. The motoring giant has been forced to lay off thousands of workers over the years over the company's lack of new vehicle models.

FCA, whose plants churn out Jeep SUVs, sporty Alfa Romeos, luxury Maseratis and tiny Fiats, had promised to bring all employees in Italy back to work by the end of 2018, but that goal slipped as investments and product launches were delayed.

Juventus' owners, the Agnelli family, also controls about 30% of Fiat Chrysler through a holding company.

The strike was called for late Sunday to early Tuesday.

"The owners should invest in vehicle models that guarantee the future of thousands of people rather than enriching only one", a statement from the striking USB union said.

"It's unacceptable that, while FCA and CNHI workers continue to make huge economic sacrifices, the company spends hundreds of millions of euros on the purchase of a player", union USB Lavoro Privato said in a statement.

The Portugal captain said he wants to start a "new cycle" in his career at the age of 33, having won four Champions League titles in the past five years at Madrid. The plant manufactures two Fiat models, the Punto and the 500X, according to the BBC.

The Agnellis also own 64 per cent of Juventus, the club Ronaldo will join next season after nine years of playing for the Spanish team, reports Independent UK.
